The Dominican preacher Domenico Giusiana was John Bosco’s grammar teacher and was very fond of him. During the school year of 1832 – 1833, the student risked failing the third-year exam of the High School for passing his work to his classmates. But he passed the exam anyway, because the preacher managed to arrange for John Bosco to write an alternative essay, for which he was given top marks. In St. Dominic’s church on 8 June 1841, Don Bosco held his third mass at the altar of the Lady of the Rosary.
